Urethane Supply Company now has available, the hot stapler system for repairing thermoplastics. With the hot stapler, you can literally bury the staples into the plastic. 
It's very easy to use.

<li>Simply insert the staple into the end of the wand.</li>
<li>Span the tear in the plastic with the staple.</li>
<li>Press the button that is on the wand. This will heat the staple allowing the staple to melt half way into the plastic.</li>
<li>Release the button.</li>
<li>Wait a few seconds for the plastic to cool.</li>
<li>Remove wand from the staple.</li>
<li>Snip away the excess staple.</li>
</ul>
 
The hot stapler works on ALL thermoplastics. It works especially well on broken headlight tabs, and bumper covers.

Melting a staple or two in at the edge of a crack can greatly increase the strength of the repair. It's also good for reattaching broken headlight tabs. If the plastic melts, you can use the Punto Plast to help repair it!

Preparing the plastic:

Make sure the area to be stapled is free of paint and clean. Use 1000-A Super Clean to remove any oils or residues from the plastic’s surface.
 



Getting Started:

Plug in control box and turn on. Carefully insert desired staple into one of three possible positions in the end of the stapler without depressing the power button on the handle. Once pressed to the bottom of the hole, the unit is ready for use.
 



Setting the Temperature:

Turn the control dial to the second or third position, unless very low heat levels are desired. These two positions satisfy most stapling applications.

 
Use:

Lay staple over the desired location and apply gentle pressure. Push the button on the handle, then release once the staple is at the desired depth. Allow to cool slightly. Pull back and the staple will remain in the plastic. Clip off the staple with the supplied diagonal cutter.

 
Caution:

When clipping off the staple prongs, wear eye protection and cup your hand over the staple to prevent the clipped wire from becoming a projectile.
