Micrometers, Calipers, Bore Gauges, etc
The science of metellugey is what dictates a good micrometer. And forgiveness of temperature variation is what make a 'good' micrometer good. You can pay a fortune for accuracies to .0001", but the lion's share of a goog micrometer's cost are the alloys that provide a lot of forgiveness in the temperature range the micrometer can be used in.
We've found Central's micrometer highly accurate within a reasonable temperature range (50 to 80F). If you can accept .00005" movement within that range, then Central will, in our opinion, give you the best bang for your buck. We used to carry the others, but we've never gotten a complaint on them and the feedback we consistently get is that they hold their calibration well.
